Toilet Repair & Installation
TOILET REPAIR & INSTALLATION IN Reedsburg, WI.
Federal standards have capped new toilets at 1.6 gallons per flush since 1994, and a leaking flapper can quietly waste more than 200 gallons a day. Ernstmeyer Plumbing Co. LLC repairs and installs toilets throughout Reedsburg, WI, and nearby Baraboo and Lake Delton, working with Kohler, Mansfield, and American Standard fixtures. Most of what fails inside a tank is inexpensive.

RUNNING TOILETS ARE LEAKS WITH A TIMER.
It does not look like damage, so it gets ignored. Meanwhile a worn flapper that no longer seals passes water continuously into the bowl and out to the sewer, and the only place it shows up is the bill. A five dollar part left alone becomes the most expensive fixture in the house. Food coloring in the tank proves it.
Most tank repairs take under an hour and cost less than a quarter of the water they save. That is a rare thing in plumbing and worth acting on.

TOILET REPAIR & INSTALLATION
A ROCKING TOILET IS A FLOOR PROBLEM.
Movement at the base means the wax ring has already broken its seal, and every flush since then has been putting a little water into the subfloor. By the time the flooring feels soft or the ceiling below stains, the repair involves carpentry rather than plumbing. Shimming it does not fix anything. Pulling the toilet, checking the flange, and resetting it properly does. That is a one-hour job today.
MINERAL DEPOSIT IS WHY YOUR FLUSH GOT WEAK.
Scale builds on flappers, fill valves, and the rim jets that give a bowl its swirl. A toilet that flushes weakly is often not worn out at all; it is partly blocked by mineral deposit at the rim. Around here that happens faster than the manufacturer's schedule assumes, which is why tank parts here need replacing sooner than the manual suggests. Cleaning the jets often restores it.
A MASTER PLUMBER STILL SETS TOILETS HERE.
It is not glamorous work and it is exactly where shortcuts show up later. A flange sitting below finished floor level, a closet bolt overtightened until the porcelain cracks, a supply line kinked behind the bowl. Small things, all of them avoidable, and all of them expensive when they surface. Thadd Ernstmeyer holds Wisconsin Master Plumber license 996751 and does this work himself. What is yours doing?
WHAT A PROPERLY SET TOILET GIVES YOU
ONE FLUSH, EVERY TIME
A clean rim, a correctly sized flapper, and the right water level make the difference between a bowl that clears and one that needs a second attempt.
NO HIDDEN FLOOR DAMAGE
A proper wax seal and a flange at the right height keep water out of the subfloor. That is the failure that turns a fixture repair into a framing repair.
A NOTICEABLY LOWER BILL
A silent tank leak can waste more water than the rest of the household uses. Stopping it usually pays for the repair on the first billing cycle.
COMFORT THAT SUITS THE HOUSEHOLD
Comfort-height bowls, elongated shapes, and soft-close seats matter more to daily life than most people expect, particularly for older family members. We fit the fixture to the person.
NO MORE PLUNGER BY THE DOOR
Weak flushing is usually a fixable problem rather than a fact of life. Correcting the rim, the flapper timing, or the drain behind it ends the routine entirely.
QUIET, STABLE FIXTURES
No rocking, no whistling fill valve, no ghost flushing at two in the morning. A toilet should be the least noticeable thing in a bathroom.
WHAT WE FIX
OUR TOILET WORK
Six services cover almost every toilet call we take, from a tank part that costs a few dollars to a complete fixture replacement. Most of them are finished in a single visit.

TANK PARTS
Flapper, Fill Valve, and Tank Repair
Running tanks, slow refills, whistling fill valves, and handles that need holding down. These are quick, inexpensive repairs that stop a surprising amount of water waste immediately. We carry the common parts.

RESETTING
Wax Ring and Flange Repair
Rocking bowls, seepage at the base, and flanges that sit too low or have broken ears. The toilet comes up, the flange gets corrected, and it goes back down on a fresh seal.

CLOGS
Toilet Clog and Blockage Clearing
Blockages that a plunger will not move, including objects that went down and stopped in the trapway. We clear them without cracking porcelain, and check whether the drain beyond is involved.

NEW FIXTURES
Toilet Installation and Replacement
New bowls set on a sound flange with new bolts, a new supply line, and a proper seal. Comfort-height, elongated, and low-flow models available from Kohler, Mansfield, and American Standard.

WEAK FLUSH
Flush Performance Correction
Bowls that need two flushes usually have blocked rim jets, a flapper closing early, or a tank water level set too low. All three are correctable without replacing the fixture.

BIDETS
Bidet Seats and Fixture Add-Ons
Bidet seats, hand sprayers, and upgraded supply valves added to existing fixtures. Water connections get made properly rather than with the saddle valve that comes in the box. Those fail within a year.

THE WORD ON OUR WORK
WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY.
Toilet work rarely makes for dramatic stories, which is the point. What customers mention is that the bowl stopped rocking, the running noise ended, and nobody had to call about it again six months later. Quiet fixtures are the whole goal here.
★★★★★
I was thoroughly impressed by the remarkable level of care and foresight shown throughout the entire experience. Every stage reflected a deep understanding of what makes a process truly effective and enjoyable. The final outcome was exceptional and left me with complete satisfaction.

Many plumbers to chose from, but the honest, friendly, knowledgeable approach is hard to beat. They have helped me out many times after being introduced during a 4000 sqft home build a few years back.

Common Questions
frequently asked
questions.
The toilet questions we get asked most, answered without pushing a replacement when a two dollar part would do. Anything not covered can come through the contact page.
How do I know if my toilet is leaking silently?
Put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and leave it alone for 20 minutes. If color appears in the bowl without flushing, the flapper is passing water and needs replacing. That test costs nothing at all.
Why does my toilet keep running after flushing?
Usually a flapper that no longer seats, a chain with the wrong slack, or a fill valve that will not shut off. All three are inexpensive parts and quick to change out. Hard water shortens their life here.
Is it worth repairing an old toilet or should I replace it?
If it is pre-1994 it uses several gallons a flush, and replacement pays back in water alone. Newer fixtures with a cracked tank or a damaged flange are usually worth replacing too. Everything else is worth repairing first.
Why is my toilet rocking?
Either the closet bolts have loosened, the flange has broken, or the floor beneath has softened from a failed seal. Shimming hides it; pulling the fixture is the only way to know. Movement always means a broken seal.
What causes a weak or incomplete flush?
Mineral-blocked rim jets are the most common culprit, followed by a tank water level set below the fill line and a flapper that closes before the tank empties. Fixing all three is quick and none requires a new toilet.
How long does a toilet installation take?
A straight replacement onto a sound flange runs about an hour. Flange repair or floor damage adds time. Ernstmeyer Plumbing Co. LLC installs fixtures throughout Reedsburg, WI, and hauls the old one away. You are told before extra work starts.
Can I flush wipes if the package says flushable?
No. They pass the toilet and then hang on roots, rough joints, and any rough spot in the line. They are the leading cause of main line blockages we clear. Nothing except toilet paper should ever go down.
Why hire a plumber to install a toilet?
Because what goes wrong is under the fixture, not on it: flange height, seal compression, and bolt torque. Ernstmeyer Plumbing Co. LLC sets toilets across Reedsburg, WI, and corrects the flange when it needs it. That is where installs fail.

HOW WE WORK
FROM WOBBLE TO SOLID, HERE IS HOW.
STEP 01
Identify What Is Actually Wrong
Running, weak flushing, rocking, and leaking all have different causes and different costs. We check the tank, the seal, and the drain before saying which one you have. Guessing here wastes your money.
STEP 02
Check the Floor and Flange
Any toilet that moves gets pulled so the flange and subfloor can be seen. Finding rot now is far cheaper than finding it when the floor gives way later. You see whatever we find.
STEP 03
Quote Repair and Replacement
Both prices go in front of you: repair, or a new fixture. For an older toilet the second often wins on water savings. Any work that is not included in the original estimate will be added as a separate line item.
STEP 04
Protect the Bathroom
Floor covering goes down before anything is pulled, and the fixture gets drained so nothing spills on the way out. Bathrooms are small and easy to damage in a hurry. We take the extra minutes.
STEP 05
Set It Right and Seal It
Flange corrected to finished floor height, new bolts, fresh wax or a modern seal, and the bowl seated evenly without overtightening. Then a new supply line goes on. Old supply lines are the weak point.
STEP 06
Test, Clean, and Haul It Away
We flush it repeatedly, check the base for any seepage, and adjust the water level for a full clean flush. The old fixture and the packaging leave with us. The bathroom gets wiped down.
