Plumbing Repair

A faucet dripping once per second wastes more than 3,000 gallons a year, enough for 180 showers. Ernstmeyer Plumbing Co. LLC handles plumbing repair throughout Reedsburg, WI, and nearby Baraboo and Lake Delton: leaks, failing valves, weak pressure, and the noises a system makes before something gives out entirely. Every repair here starts with a real diagnosis first.

PARTS SWAPPING IS NOT A REPAIR.

Anyone can replace a cartridge. The question worth answering is why that cartridge failed after two years when the one across the hall is fine. Usually it is pressure, water chemistry, or a fitting installed wrong a decade ago. Fix that and the same part lasts as long as it should have the first time.

It takes a few extra minutes to check pressure and look at the rest of the run. Those minutes are the difference between a repair and a recurring appointment.

PLUMBING REPAIR

SMALL PROBLEMS DO NOT STAY SMALL HERE.

A weeping compression fitting behind a dishwasher costs almost nothing to correct in June. Left until the flooring cups and the subfloor softens, the same fitting has turned into a kitchen project. Water is patient and it does not stop, and every repair we get called to late started as something a homeowner noticed and decided to watch. Watching is the expensive option. Looking is the cheap one.

REEDSBURG PLUMBING FAILS IN PREDICTABLE WAYS.

Hard water is the constant here. It scales heating elements, stiffens valve seats, and narrows aerators until pressure feels wrong at one fixture and nowhere else. Add long freezing seasons and a lot of homes on private wells, and the repair list around here looks different from the one in a city with soft municipal water. We know which failures to expect on which streets.

DIAGNOSIS IS THE PART MOST PEOPLE SKIP.

It is faster to replace the obvious part and leave. It is also why some homeowners have had the same repair done three times by three companies. We would rather spend 20 minutes finding out that the real problem is a pressure-reducing valve than come back next spring for the same faucet. Thadd Ernstmeyer holds Wisconsin Master Plumber license 996751 and has been repairing plumbing in this area for 30+ years. What keeps failing at your place?

WHAT A REPAIR DONE RIGHT SAVES YOU

THE PROBLEM STAYS FIXED

A repair aimed at the cause rather than the symptom does not reappear in eight months. You pay once, and the fixture works the way it did when it was new.

NO WATER DAMAGE BILL

Restoration costs many times what the plumbing repair does. Closing a leak while it is still a drip keeps flooring, drywall, and insulation out of the conversation entirely.

A SMALLER WATER BILL

Running toilets and dripping valves waste water constantly and quietly. Most households notice the difference on the very next bill, which is often more than the repair cost.

FIXTURES THAT FEEL RIGHT

Full pressure at the shower, a toilet that clears in one flush, and a faucet that shuts off without a wiggle. Daily annoyances disappear and stay gone.

HONEST REPLACE-OR-REPAIR ADVICE

Sometimes the right answer is to stop repairing. We will tell you when a fixture or a run of pipe has reached that point instead of billing you for another round.

PEACE ON A COLD NIGHT

Knowing the weak points have been dealt with changes how a January forecast reads. Nobody should spend a cold snap listening for a sound in the basement.

WHAT WE FIX

OUR PLUMBING REPAIR WORK

Repair calls fall into six broad shapes. Whichever one yours turns out to be, the work starts with finding out what is really going on before a price gets attached to it.

Hand turning blue valve on copper plumbing pipes indoors

VALVES

Shut-off and Valve Replacement

Seized angle stops, main shut-offs that will not close, and hose bibs that split over winter. Replacing them before you need them is the difference between a mess and a minor event.

Hands using a red wrench to tighten a chrome sink drain pipe under a sink

NOISE

Water Hammer and Noisy Pipe Repair

Banging, hammering, and vibration usually come from loose supports or the absence of shock arrestors. Securing the run and installing arrestors near quick-closing valves quiets a house down for good.

Under-sink water filtration system with gray canister and hoses inside a cabinet

APPLIANCES

Disposal, Dishwasher, and Appliance Hookups

Garbage disposals that hum or jam, dishwasher supply and drain connections, ice maker lines, and laundry boxes. Small connections, but the ones most likely to leak behind something heavy. We secure them properly.

LEAKS

Leak Repair and Pipe Patching

Pinholes in copper, split PEX after a freeze, failed solder joints, and leaking valve bodies. The failed section comes out and new pipe goes in, rather than a clamp that buys a season.

PRESSURE

Water Pressure Diagnosis and Correction

Weak flow at one fixture points somewhere different than weak flow everywhere. We measure at the source, check the reducing valve and shut-offs, then correct whatever is actually restricting the system.

THE WORD ON OUR WORK

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY.

Repeat calls tell us more than reviews do. People who hired us for one faucet call back for the tub, the water heater, and eventually the whole house. One customer put it simply: would hire again for any plumbing need. That is the measure we care about.

★★★★★

I was thoroughly impressed by the remarkable level of care and foresight shown throughout the entire experience. Every stage reflected a deep understanding of what makes a process truly effective and enjoyable. The final outcome was exceptional and left me with complete satisfaction.

★★★★★

Many plumbers to chose from, but the honest, friendly, knowledgeable approach is hard to beat. They have helped me out many times after being introduced during a 4000 sqft home build a few years back.

Common Questions

frequently asked
questions.

The repair questions we field most often, answered directly. If your situation is not on this list, describe it through the contact page and we will tell you what it sounds like.

  • How do I know whether to repair or replace a fixture?

Age, parts availability, and how many times it has already been fixed. A 10-year-old faucet with a worn cartridge is worth repairing; one that has been rebuilt twice and still drips is not. We give you both numbers.

  • Can a small leak really cause serious damage?

Yes. A steady drip inside a wall keeps framing damp indefinitely, and mold follows moisture rather than volume. The repair is small; what the water does to the structure around it is not. Time is the whole problem.

  • What does it mean when only the hot water pressure is low?

That narrows it to the heater or the hot side. Sediment in the tank, a partly closed heater shut-off, or scale in the outlet nipple are the three most common causes we find. All three are correctable in one visit.

  • How quickly can you get out for a repair?

Often the same day, depending on where you are and what else is running. Ernstmeyer Plumbing Co. LLC covers Reedsburg, WI, and the surrounding towns, and after-hours calls carry no extra charge. Send the details and we will confirm.

  • Is it normal for pipes to make noise when water is running?

A soft flow sound is normal. Banging, ticking, or a hammer when a valve closes is not, and it means something is moving that should be fastened or absorbed. All of it is correctable. Left alone, joints eventually fail.

  • What should I check before calling about low pressure?

Try more than one fixture, hot and cold separately, and clean the aerator on the worst one. If the problem follows a single tap, it is local. If it is everywhere, the cause is upstream. That alone narrows it enormously.

  • Why should we use you for a small repair?

Because a small repair is where a plumber's judgment shows. Ernstmeyer Plumbing Co. LLC treats a leaking stop valve in Reedsburg, WI, the same way we treat a commercial install: find the cause, quote it, fix it once.

HOW WE WORK

FROM SYMPTOM TO SOLVED, HERE IS HOW.

STEP 01

Get the Full Story

We ask what it does, when it does it, and what changed recently. A fixture that only misbehaves during laundry points somewhere very different than one that misbehaves constantly. Details narrow it fast.

STEP 02

Test Before Touching Anything

Pressure gauge on a hose bib, a look at the shut-offs, and the fixtures on either side of the complaint. Numbers tell us more than opinions, and they cost nothing to collect. That is where we start.

STEP 03

Explain What We Found

You hear the actual cause in plain language, along with what happens if it waits. No jargon, no scare tactics, and no upgrade you did not ask about. You decide from there, on your own timeline.

STEP 04

Price It Before Starting

A written number covering parts and labor, given before a tool comes out. If replacement is the better call, both prices go on the same page. Any work that is not included in the original estimate will be added as a separate line item.

STEP 05

Make the Repair Last

Correct materials, proper support, and a test under pressure before anything closes back up. Where a root cause is driving the failure, we address that too rather than resetting the clock. That is the whole point.

STEP 06

Clean Up and Confirm

We run the fixture with you watching, show you the replaced part, and take the old one away. The area gets left cleaner than we found it, every time. No exceptions to that.
